She wanted to spend summers with her grandchildren in the Greek village where, as a child, she had visited her grandmother. Her business partner wanted to pursue his interest in Greek culture and history. Together, they wanted a house where their families could gather and enjoy the beach and the village. The house features a top-down design: living room, dining room, kitchen and terraces occupy the top floor, bedrooms are in the middle, and utility and playrooms are in the basement. This design allows the living areas to have the best views, the most volume, and access to the roof decks over the bedrooms below, making the most of a long and narrow footprint. The construction is vintage Greek: poured concrete structure with clay brick infill and plaster walls inside and out.
